Greece, Athens, Attic, ca. 430 to 420 BCE. A fine red-figure lekythos attributed to the Group of Palermo 16, depicting a running male wrapped in a himation, his hair bound with a fillet. His right arm extends and holds a lyre. Above and below the figure are registers of egg-and-dart pattern. A graceful, tall, and slender pottery oil vessel. Size: 8-1/4" (21 cm). Provenance: Ex-private J. Kluge collection, Charlottesville, Virginia, acquired from Royal Athena in 1988; ex-private P. Kluge collection, Charlottesville, Virginia, 1990-2010.
