Description:

Ancient Greece, Athens, ca. 490 to 450 BCE. A stunning Attic black-figure pottery kylix of an exemplar form with a wide, shallow cup, a narrow stem, and upraised twin handles, all upon a short foot. Adorning the body is a lower register of repeating black figure abstract palmettes with added red and white pigments and incised highlights outlining the semi-circular red forms and radiating palmette leaves as well as two concentric red circles on the tondo. Absolutely lovely! Size: 7.5" W handle-span x 3.25" H (19 cm x 8.3 cm)
