Description:

Ancient Greece, Athens, ca. 5th century BCE. A gorgeous wheel-thrown ceramic kylix used as a cup for drinking wine. The wide, shallow body has a carinated wall, a flared rim, and a pair of projecting handles, all atop a pedestal stem and a discoid foot. The entire kylix - save for a ring around the foot and interior areas of the handles - is adorned with lustrous glaze of a jet-black hue that imbues the vessel with an elegant presentation. Size: 10.375" W x 3.8" H (26.4 cm x 9.7 cm).
