Description:

Ancient Greece, Athens, ca. 5th century BCE. A lovely kylix (drinking cup) with a ringed base, a wide body with tall walls, a thin rim, and a pair of applied parabolic handles. The interior and exterior of the vessel are coated in a lustrous jet-black glaze, with areas of faint silvery iridescence providing a nice complementary layer of color. Only the small areas between the handle termini and the underside of the base are unglazed. Size: 6.5" W x 2.125" H (16.5 cm x 5.4 cm).
