Description:

Ancient Greece, Archaic Period, ca. 600 BCE. A mold-formed terracotta figure of a nude boy seated with bent legs atop an integral ovoid plinth. The boy is defined by an upright posture, a bulbous abdomen below defined pectorals, and rounded shoulders flanking a stocky neck. Small almond-shaped eyes, a slender nose, full lips, and fine cheek contours define the stylized visage, and locks of puffy hair comprise the coiffure which drapes gently to the nape of his neck. Small figures like this example were intended to be left at an altar or personal shrine as a votive. Size: 2.55" W x 3.4" H (6.5 cm x 8.6 cm).
