Eastern Greek, late Archaic period, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE to 1st century CE. A delicate pair of matching 83% gold earrings (equivalent to 20K), each composed of a very thin, curved gold wire attached by granule-like balls to a broadened half-disc that resembles a boat , the disc hollow and wrapped in three places with three pieces of similarly thin gold wire. These could be made wearable today by a jeweler with the addition of findings. Earrings like these would have been worn by high status Greek and Roman women, who treasured their jewelry - some of the only private property elite women could own in the Classical Mediterranean.
