Description:

Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A charming wheel-thrown skyphos (wine cup) with a short footed base, a rounded body with a thin rim, and a pair of applied parabolic handles. The cup is decorated with leafy, linear, and V-shaped motifs in orange-red pigment atop a rich, lustrous black glaze. Xenon ware is a specific type of Apulian pottery, and the style is distinguished by added red decoration over black glaze. Size: 3.625" W x 1.8" H (9.2 cm x 4.6 cm).
