Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A fine wheel-thrown pottery kylix (wine-drinking cup) with a petite discoid base, a wide hemispherical body, and a pair of projecting loop handles on opposite side of the thick rim. The entire vessel - save for the central area beneath the foot - is covered in lustrous jet-black glaze that imbues it with an elegant presentation characteristic of fine Apulian artistry! Size (w/ handles): 6.625" W x 1.6" H (16.8 cm x 4.1 cm)
