Description:

A hand-built pottery pedestal vessel known as a fruitera, the interior of the basin is painted with three abstract birds withing triangular bands. The colors, black, red, and a dark purple - perhaps best described as puce hued. Gran Cocle refers to a cultural region in pre-Columbian Panama, known for its archaeological significance, particularly in the central part of the country. It encompasses several cultures and sites that were prominent between 500 CE and 1520 CE, and the use of purple pigment suggests this vessel is of the Conte or Macaracas style.
