Eastern Greek / Roman empires, ca 200 BCE to 1 CE.  A fine and attractive bronze head to a lance, of the type used on short spears by the infantry or longer spears by the cavalry for short thrusting.  Leaf-shaped blade has central "blood" ridge - actually used for strength - and long tapered socket.  Both Roman and Greek military units brought metalsmiths with their units to be ready to make weapons at a moment's notice.  Size: 8-1/2" L.  Custom metal stand.
