Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A delicate, free-blown glass pitcher of slender form that exhibits incredibly light blue hues above the opulent gold iridescence within the body; the colors are best observed next to a bright light source. The inverted piriform vessel features a slightly rough pontil scar within the concave base, a sloped shoulder that tapers dramatically into a cylindrical neck, a thick trefoil pouring spout above, and a lovely trail handle arching and meandering off the verso. Size: 2.25" L x 1.875" W x 4.6" H (5.7 cm x 4.8 cm x 11.7 cm)
