Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous necklace strung with dozens of petite carnelian beads of warm vermilion hues. A couple of beads exhibit hues of translucent white, orange, or peach, and some beads are further embellished with carved facets. The central, crescent-shaped bead is flanked by a pair of modern gold-filled seed beads and makes for an interesting and sophisticated accessory. Size: 16" L (40.6 cm)

Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s
