Classical World, Magna Graecia, Southern Italy, Campania, Gnathian Teano Ware, ca. 340 to 320 BCE. A really simple and beautiful glossy black oinochoe, a pouring vessel, with a symmetrical trefoil rim. A thin, flattened cylinder handle runs from the center of the body to flow into the rim. Very delicate cream and red line art, including a ring of stars and suns, decorate the body. A beautiful example of Teano-ware, most likely produced in Teano, Italy, when it was a Greek colony. Size: 3.5" W x 6.45" H (8.9 cm x 16.4 cm)
