Description:

South America, Bolivia, millions and millions of years old. A beautiful petal-shaped section of amethyst (purple quartz) with a lovely pale-yellow columnar quartz inclusion rising vertically in the center. Geodes form from hollow bubbles inside a layer of rocks. Rain or other water sources falling on the exterior of the rock cause the elements within it to flow into the bubbles which form the fine crystals like these. Trace variations of mineral content, especially iron, copper, or magnesium, can have significant effects. The purple hue of amethyst crystals comes from the iron content in silicate. Size: 10.5" W x 14.5" H (26.7 cm x 36.8 cm).
