Description:

Central Asia, India, ca. 19th century CE. A stunning cast bronze figure of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi, wife of Vishnu and the goddess of wealth, good fortune, and prosperity, standing with her four arms elegantly displayed and holding various attributes - a discus and a teapot in the outer arms, and a lotus blossom or mango pressed between the two inner hands, wearing elaborate clothing and bedecked with an impressive jewerly ensemble - necklaces, bracelets, anklets, earrings and a grand headdress - this luxurious presence indicating her royal status. The statue is detailed on all sides. Lakshmi is a fitting choice for a gilded bronze statue, as she is the goddess of wealth of all kinds - not just material wealth, but also the wealth of fame and family. Size: 8.25" H (21 cm)
