Starts at $200 India, Ca. 300- 400 CE. Human head from larger frieze, with incised half-moon curls, and idealized facial features. Clearly shows the longstanding influence of the Hellenistic Period, which was brought by Alexander the Great and the Greeks in their conquest of India in the 4th Century BCE. Back and bottom are left raw (since it is part of a frieze). Professionally mounted. Head measures 3"H x 2-1/4"W (7.5 cm x 5.75cm), on stand 4-1/2"H (11.5cm). Ex-Private Northern Colorado Collection acquired at auction. The starting price is the price at which the piece can sell.
