Fritz Konig (also Koenig - Germany, 1924-2017), "Bilderschrietscheib", 1970. Numbered 67/275 and initialed "F.K" in pencil beneath the image. A fascinating monochromatic work on paper with a spherical impression and registers of raised characters. Koenig was a famous German sculptor, and outside of his home country he is best known for a work called "The Sphere" (1969-71) which once graced the plaza between the World Trade towers in Manhattan. Currently it can be found in its damaged state as a memorial to the victims of 9/11 in Battery Park. Size: 16.875" L x 12.25" W (42.9 cm x 31.1 cm)
