Western Europe, France, late Medieval Period, 14th to 15th century CE. A petite cast-bronze stamp seal with a circular face surmounted by a perforated, spade-shaped handle. Inscribed on the face is a triangular shield with linear and circular motifs, and surrounding the shield is a line of text that perhaps contains the name of the stamp's owner or the family motto of the owner. Smooth green-brown patina has formed across the implement. Custom putty impression included. Size: 0.8" W x 1" H (2 cm x 2.5 cm)
