Description:

Europe, France, ca. 19th century CE. A cast bronze model of a cannon created to send bright and fiery airborne signals. The barrel has several bands wrapped around the length of the hefty shaft, the largest being in the middle in order to attach the support rod and increase overall stability. It has a wick hole on the side of the barrel end near the knob-shaped terminal. The barrel, most likely French in origin, is likely based on a form widely used during the mid-1700s CE. Size: 8" L x 1.3" W x 1.75" H (20.3 cm x 3.3 cm x 4.4 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand.
