Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 100 to 600 CE. A gorgeous ancient Andean feather panel - possibly from a chest panel which would have been worn by only the most important member of the clan. The artisan attached hundreds of orange, yellow, and brown feathers to a cotton fabric base that was fitted with two wooden dowels - one at each end. This handsome piece was most likely part of an elaborate warrior or ceremonial costume. Professionally cleaned, mounted to museum-grade black linen, then attached to stretcher frame, and set in a lucite box frame. Size: textile including dowels measures 5.375" L x 16" W (13.7 cm x 40.6 cm); 11.375" L x 23" W (28.9 cm x 58.4 cm) framed
