Eastern Europe, Russia, ca. mid-19th to early 20th century CE. An elaborate brass epaulette (also epaulet) that is covered in a layer of silvering and meant to adorn the shoulder of a highly distinguished soldier. The slightly corseted upper body features several grooves beneath a pair of twisted yellow tassels, and the U-shaped applique along the lower body rests just above the brass wire fringe tassels. A fine example of a military epaulette with nicely polished surfaces. Custom wooden frame included. Size (epaulette): 5.7" W x 10.25" H (14.5 cm x 26 cm); (display case): 9.75" W x 13.375" H (24.8 cm x 34 cm)

  • Condition: Top of epaulette is sewn to cushion. Loosening to one padded interior lining, with minor abrasions to top and body, and very minor fraying to some fringe strands, otherwise intact and very good. Nice luster throughout.
