Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Kenneth Foster/Forester (American, early 20th century), untitled reclining nude, oil on board, ca. 1910 to 1920. Signed in red on upper right. A lovely painting of a reclining female nude - this curvaceous lady apparently fast asleep, enjoying her blissful slumber as she lays upon a bed of sumptuous white linens, with her upper body resting upon a sky blue and spring green pillow, and a pillow with a royal blue billowing fabric case at her feet. Foster's style is reminiscent of American artist Kenyon Cox (American, 1856-1919) who studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts as well as under the legendary French master Gerome at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts from 1877 to 1882, and brought back strong art traditions to his native country. Cox was beloved for his allegorical subjects such as "Reclining Female Nude Study" and his murals at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Size: 20.25" W x 10.25" H (51.4 cm x 26 cm); 24" W x 14" H (61 cm x 35.6 cm) including frame
