Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine collection of over 50 ancient Spondylus shell beads strung and displayed as a beautiful necklace. The strand is strung with alternating rectangular beads of light orange-pink colors and barrel-shaped beads in hues of white or beige. At the center is a symmetrical arrangement of drop-shaped pendant beads of rectangular forms. These beads are strung in modern times and mounted in a glass case as a display piece. Size of strand doubled: 9.25" L (23.5 cm); largest pendant shell: 1.5" L x .25" W (3.8 cm x 0.6 cm); frame: 13.875" L x 10.675" W (35.2 cm x 27.1 cm)
