Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 12th to 14th century CE. A lovely hand-woven pair of camelid wool (alpaca or llama) textile panels professionally mounted in a wood and glass frame as a ready to display piece! These two long strips may have been parts of a belt or dress sash originally. The motifs consist of zigzag and interlocking linear patterns and abstract birds in hues of vibrant cochineal pink, walnut brown, and white on a light tan ground. Size (textiles): 32.5" L x 5" W (82.6 cm x 12.7 cm); (frame): 36.5" L x 9.5" W (92.7 cm x 24.1 cm)
