Description:

Bob Barlow (American, b. 1934). "Low Tide at Lamu - Kenya" oil on board, ca. 2000. Signed "Bob Barlow - Lamu" on lower right. Painted in Bob Barlow's signature Neo Impressionist style, this landscape of Lamu, Kenya (also Lamu Island or Lamu Town) is beautifully rendered in a brilliant color palette of aquamarine blue, citrine yellow-green, and russet red. The composition truly captures a moment in time as the boat rocks toward the docks, the waves moves to the sea's rhythm, and the land mass beyond beckons. Size: 8" W x 10" H (20.3 cm x 25.4 cm)

Bob Barlow, son of a pioneer ranching family, was born in Wyoming and also calls Montana, where he has his art studio, his home. Barlow studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and is also a world traveler. While he enjoys painting landscapes of the Western US and Canada, his sojourns in Africa and Europe have inspired much of his oeuvre.
