Native American, Midwestern USA, from left to right: Middle Archaic, ca. 5000 to 2000 BCE; Middle to Late Archaic, ca. 5000 to 0 BCE; Early to Middle Archaic, ca. 7000 to 5500 BCE; Late Archaic to Early Woodland ca. 2000 BCE to 500 CE. A collection of four chert knapped projectile points: a Smith, a large triangular basal notch point, excurvate in form, with a flattened cross section; a basal notch point that is probably a Marshall, a large triangular blade, corner notched with long barbs; a Hidden Valley, a large triangular blade with projecting stems; and an Osceola, a medium side-notched point with parallel notches low on the blade and with basal ears that follow the contours of the blade. Size of largest: 1.6" W x 5" H (4.1 cm x 12.7 cm); display case: 8.6" W x 6.7" H (21.8 cm x 17 cm)
