Description:

North Africa, Taouz, Sahara, Morocco, mid-Cretaceous period, ca. 100 to 93 million years old. Four Carcharodontosaurus (Carcharodontosaurus saharicus) teeth with serrated edges from a massive dinosaur species that lived in modern day Morocco during the Middle Cretaceous period. The fossilized teeth show nice red, orange, and yellow hues from taking on the iron-rich minerals in which they were deposited. Carcharodontosaurus was one of the largest land predators to ever live, a carnivorous dinosaur that had a similar form to the rock star of dinosaurs, T-Rex, but lived millions of years before it. Carcharodontosaurus is named after the shark Carcharodon, whose name means "jagged/sharp teeth". Size: longest tooth measures 3.125" L (7.9 cm)
