Description:

Ancient Seas, North America, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. This is a gorgeous tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark, the frontside of the enamel is polished to a glassy surface to reveal the interior layers of black with lighter striations throughout, which gives a pleasantly tactile quality to the tooth. The verso of the enamel is unpolished and demonstrates the natural coloration and texture of the enamel, which is a lustrous gray with beige undertones and mottled brown speckles. Megalodons are the largest known member of the shark family, and no wonder, this tooth is about 5.5 inches (14 cm)! Fossil reconstructions suggest Megalodon reached lengths up to 54 feet, three times larger than Great Whites. Pictured stand not included, but available for an additional fee. Size: 5.56" L x 4.37" W (14.1 cm x 11.1 cm)
