Description:

North Africa, Morocco, Taouz, Kem Kem Basin, late Cretaceous period, ca. 100 to 95 Million years old. A fossilized Carcharodontosaurus saharicus tooth from a massive dinosaur that lived-in modern-day Morocco during the Cretaceous period. The tooth has serrated edges that give the fossil a delightful tactile quality. The surface has a nice umber-orange hue from the iron-rich minerals and sediment in which the tooth fossilized. Carcharodontosaurus was one of the largest land predators to ever live, a carnivorous dinosaur that had similar proportions to the rock star of dinosaurs, T-Rex, but lived millions of years before it. Carcharodontosaurus is named after the shark Carcharodon, whose name means "jagged/sharp teeth." Size: 1.5" L x .75" W (3.8 cm x 1.9 cm)
