Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

Northern Europe, Viking period, ca. 9th to 11th century CE. A collection of five bronze bracelets, each with a distinctive style. Three are simple and elegant: one thin and rounded with slightly raised bars on the terminals that give an anthropomorphic, dragon-like appearance; one a thick, squared-off bar curved to form the bracelet shape and given tapered terminals; and one is rounded with a squared-off interior and two square-shaped terminals. The other two bracelets are more ornate. One is made of braided and twisted bronze wires with the terminals formed of wires wrapped around each other into loops. The other is very thin, with incised floral motifs on its exterior face. Size of largest, but all are similar in size: 2.8" W (7.1 cm)

  • Condition: Four are intact, all with pale to turquoise green patinas; one's patina has beautiful deep blue splashes of color. The fifth has a dark brown patina and has been repaired in one area; it is also slightly bent/cracked at one terminal. We would not recommend wearing these items as ancient bronze can be brittle.
