Central Asia, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Islamic & Tekke, Uzbek, Aimaq cultures, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A collection of five vintage beaded textile caps entirely covered with beadwork om geometric patterns. Variations of this type of hat are used in Islamic cultures throughout Asia and have various names, such as taqiyah, tahya, and topi. The top of one has a glass mirror shard, a decorative embellishment known as shisha. Size: 6.75" L x 4" H (17.1 cm x 10.2 cm); 21" H (53.3 cm) on included custom stand.
