Ancient Near East, Holy Land, ca. 5th to 8th CE. A wonderful gathering of five mold-made terracotta oil lamps from the ancient Holy Land. A petite lamp features a slight raised base, an ovoid body, and a projecting wick spout. A cream-hued lamp has a ringed base, a nubbin thumb rest, ornate shoulder designs in low-relief, and a slender wick spout. Third is a pale-orange lamp with a tall, indented handle, a ladder-form base design, and a spotted ring surrounding a large fill hole. Fourth is a light-orange lamp with a spotted motif around the shoulders and an abstract face adorning the arched handle. Last is a pale-orange lamp with five concentric circles on the base, a tab-shaped handle, and triangular designs around the shoulders and neck channel. A fabulous ensemble! Size of largest (triangular shoulder designs): 4.25" L (10.8 cm).

- Condition: Cream-hued lamp repaired from multiple pieces with adhesive residue and small losses along break lines. All items have expected surface wear commensurate with age and use, small chips around peripheries, fading to designs and pigmentation, char marks around wick spouts, with earthen and mineral deposits throughout.
