Central Asia, Nepal, ca. 19th century CE. A fabulous collection of five illuminated pages from a Hindu Vaishnava manuscript. Each page is a rectangular and contains calligraphic texts in black ink on paper. The center of one page features a red boar headed god - Varaha - and another page includes a diagram which may be an astrological chart. The obverse of each page is divided into three panels, each containing avatars and incarnations of the god Vishnu. The pages are vibrantly painted in red, green, black, white, yellow and blue. Size: 9" L x 3.75" W (22.9 cm x 9.5 cm)
