First Natioms, Canada, Inuit, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A soapstone carving of a seated figure with hands clasped to his knees. The base is signed in Inuktitut syllabics with a number for an unknown artist, and the Igloo Tag. The Igloo Tag was introduced by the Canadian government in 1958 to authenticate Inuit art and promote economic opportunities for these artists. Size: 6" L x 4.5" W x 6.6" H (15.2 cm x 11.4 cm x 16.8 cm)
