Africa, Madagascar, late Cretaceous, ca. 71 million years ago. This is a large and beautiful pendant made of a fossilized ammonite with iridescent hues, set in a sterling silver setting. The pendant includes a drop-form suspension bail that strung on a cord with a lobster clasp as a ready to wear necklace! The ammonite shell is preserved with great details such as the textural ridges and a fiery luster of red and orange that catches the light in dazzling chromatic shifts! Size (ammonite pendant): 1.75" L x 1.5" W (4.4 cm x 3.8 cm); (cord): 21" L (53.3 cm); sterling silver quality: 92.5% or higher; weight: 31.5 grams.
