Description:

Western Asia, Urartu (Ararat), ca. 13th to 6th century BCE. A finely carved stone artifact depicting a duck head at one end and a human head at the opposite end. The man and avian face one another, the duck presenting a long beak and partially pierced eyes that may have once contained inlays, and the man with skillfully carved recessed eyes, a bas relief nose, and a tiny slit mouth. In addition to this intriguing iconography, the stone itself is inherently beautiful boasting soft rose and cream hues. Size: 2.375" L x 1.375" H (6 cm x 3.5 cm); 2.125" H (5.4 cm) on included custom stand.
