Description:

Pre-Columbian, Chile, San Pedro, Atacama Desert, Tiahuanaco (sometimes Tiwanaku) culture, ca. 400 to 700 CE. A finely preserved, hand-carved wooden snuff tray of a rectangular form with a shallow receptacle. On one end is a bird-shaped handle with folded wings and a protruding head bearing a tapered beak. Both the tray and bird are graced with a smooth patina that has developed over the centuries. Size: 8" L x 1.8" W (20.3 cm x 4.6 cm)
