Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Sican, ca. 750 to 1375 CE. A dazzling high-quality (98.4%) silver kero boasting a towering, conical body and a circular, flared rim, all sitting upon a concave base. The hammered sheets were shaped around a mold, their ends soldered together, and then the components joined permanently around the corseted base. Scholars posit vessels like this example were used in ceremonial or ritual manners. The lustrous sheen of the silver highlights the elegant form of this remarkable example from ancient Sican culture!
