Description:

Roman, Eastern Empire, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. A beautiful vessel known as an unguentarium, free-blown from semi-translucent glass of an olive green hue. The unguentarium is defined by a wide, thick base, an inverted piriform body, a tapered neck flanked with a pair of applied trail handles, and a flared, in-folded rim. Brilliant rainbow-hued iridescence envelops the entire composition and nicely complements the deep yellow-green color. Size: 1.4" W x 4" H (3.6 cm x 10.2 cm).
