Description:

Rome, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A finely-wrought, gilded bronze fibula in the crossbow style. The cast bronze has fine details, including horizontal ridges on the shaft of the brooch that resemble crosses. The top of the crossbow has a series of ridges as well. The termini of the cruciform element resemble faceted, nipple-like projections. Overall, this brooch is an example of excellent craftsmanship that has survived the years very well. Size: 2.875" L x 2.25" W (7.3 cm x 5.7 cm)
