Description:

Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A fine bronze short sword cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process. The weapon has a long blade with a wide midrib along both sides, a tapering edge near the base of the guard, a handle meant to have an inlaid bone or ivory panel, and a flared pommel end. The sword is covered in thick layers of light green, dark green, and russet-hued patina, making this a classic example of quality Luristan weaponry!
