Ancient Near East, northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1000 to 600 BCE. A wonderful dagger cast from bronze in two pieces via the lost wax (cire perdue) technique. The slender blade has a triangular profile with sharpened edges, a shallow midrib on either side, and a narrow tip that tapers to a point. The slender handle bears a flared pommel end and recessed body cavities that at one time held inlays of stone or bone. Size: 13.75" L x 1.8" W (34.9 cm x 4.6 cm)

Provenance: private Honolulu, Hawaii, USA collection; ex-Axel Guttman collection, acquired in the 1960s to 1970s
