Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine Jalisco Ameca Gray type seated female figure, solely wearing a skirt, her bare breasts adorned with elaborate tattoos or body paint depicting abstract geometric designs. The figure presents a characteristically elongated head with boldly delineated, almond-shaped eyes, a naturalistic prominent nose, slightly-parted full lips, large cup-shaped ears, and a cap-like coiffure - covered in a cream slip with the black tattoo markings embellishing her breasts, lips, nose, and eyes as well as remains of black painted slip on her skirt and hair. Size: 4.375" W x 6.375" H (11.1 cm x 16.2 cm)
