Ancient Greece, Cyclades, Cycladic culture, Early Cycladic II, ca. 2800 to 2500 BCE. A hand-carved marble dish with creamy beige and pink hues. The circular basin is shallow, gradually expanding to a rounded rim. The underside has a slightly recessed base that stabilizes the bowl. When held to a light, the stone glows a warm yellow and reveals the white veining that courses through the marble. A lovely example! Size: 6.5" Diameter x 1.5" H (16.5 cm x 3.8 cm)
