Description:

Central European (Germany), 17th to 18th centuries CE. This is an open socket weapon with a maker's mark on the blade. A glaive is a European pole arm weapon that consists of a single-edged blade on the end of a pole. Sometimes, as in this case, glaive arms were created with a small hook on the reverse side; this was designed to catch members of the cavalry and drag them from their horses. These types of blades are called glaive-guisarmes. Size: 63" L (160 cm)
