Description:

Ancient Greek, Cyprus, Iron Age, ca. 1050 to 900 BCE. A beautiful, wheel-thrown pottery patera of shallow, circular, white-ground form decorated with ample motifs painted in dark-brown or black pigment. A fine example of the "white-painted II/III ware" style, this dish exhibits a shallow basin adorned with concentric circles, a slender bar handle embellished with dark bands, and a loop handle protruding from the opposite side of the rim. The underside is extensively accentuated with radiating triangular spokes around the foot as well as a register of repeating, crosshatch-filled rectangles encircling the outer surface.
