Description:

Ancient Central Europe, La Tene (Celtic) culture, ca. 5th to 1st century BCE. A beautiful example of a forged-iron short sword of a double-edged design that features sharp edges, a pointed tip, and a shallow midrib. A brass handle with forked ends is cast over the blade tang and has three raised nodules to enhance the grip of its owner. The handle is meant to represent an abstract anthropomorphic form with the ends depicting either legs or arms with spherical nodules. Size: 27.3" L x 2.7" W (69.3 cm x 6.9 cm)

  • Condition: Very slight bending to overall form of blade, with small nick to blade tip, and minor abrasions to handle, otherwise intact and very good. Nice patina throughout. Blade edges are still relatively sharp.
