Description:

Native American, southwestern United States, east central Arizona, Anasazi (Ancestral Puebloan), ca. 1275 to 1325 CE. A gorgeous bowl of a deep hemispherical form built from iron-rich pottery using the coil-and-scrape technique. The round-bottomed vessel has a thick rim overhanging the shallow basin, and the entire vessel is covered in white slip. Though the exterior surfaces are unadorned, the interior is intricately decorated with attractive linear, triangular, and zigzagging motifs. Size: 5.5" W x 2.7" H (14 cm x 6.9 cm)

  • Condition: Minor nicks and abrasions to base, walls, rim, and basin, with very light fading to some areas of black pigment, and light encrustations, otherwise intact and near-choice. Great remains of original pigment throughout, and nice craquelure within basin.
