Western Asia, Russia, Chelyabinsk, entered Earth's atmosphere in 2013 CE. An incredibly rare fragment from the Chelyabinsk meteorite, whose fireball, caught on Russian dash cams, captivated the world on February 15, 2013 - indeed, the ensuing explosion destroyed the windows of over 7200 buildings in six cities! The type is a chondrite LL5 SR4. Nearly all of the remains from this explosion are tiny, with this example being near the upper end of the average size preserved (most fragments were 1-4 cm). Size: 1.45" W x 1.1" H (3.7 cm x 2.8 cm); weight 28.27 g; size of shadow box: 8.05" W x 12" H (20.4 cm x 30.5 cm)
