Description:

Rome, ca. 1st century BCE. This pottery lamp, from the early Imperial period, has a round nozzle and a large discus with small pour holes. It has no handle. The decoration on it shows Eros and another figure; Eros is in the right in profile, with wings and a chubby body. The other figure may be Mercury. Size: 3.4" L x 2.75" W x 0.75" H (8.6 cm x 7 cm x 1.9 cm).

Provenance: Ex- Sarkisian Gallery, Denver, CO, acquired in the 1950's. Displayed, Denver Art Museum, 1960's.
